You've Done Everything Right. So Why Don't You Feel Better?
You've been to the doctor. You've had the bloodwork done. You've been told everything looks normal — and yet you still wake up exhausted, struggle through your afternoons, and feel like a shadow of who you used to be.
If that sounds familiar, you're not imagining it. And you're not alone.
At Balanced Living Functional Medicine, we work with women across Ohio who are tired of being dismissed and ready for a different approach — one that actually looks for the root cause of why they feel the way they do.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine is a root-cause approach to healthcare. Rather than asking "what condition do you have and how do we manage it?", we ask "why is your body struggling, and what does it need to heal?"
That means looking deeper than a standard panel of labs. It means taking the time to understand your full health history, your lifestyle, your stress, your sleep, your gut, your hormones — and finding the patterns that conventional medicine often misses.
It's not a rejection of modern medicine. It's an expansion of it.
And for many of our members, it's the first time a healthcare provider has looked at them as a whole person rather than a collection of symptoms.
Why Virtual Care Changes Everything
One of the most common things we hear from new members is: "I didn't know something like this existed — or that I could access it from home."
Functional medicine has historically been concentrated in larger cities, making it inaccessible to many women across Ohio. Our virtual practice changes that.
Whether you live in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, or a small town in between — you have access to the same personalized, in-depth care. No long drives. No time off work. No waiting rooms.
Just a dedicated team that takes the time to actually listen, dig deeper, and work alongside you toward real, lasting change.
Who We Help
Our members are women who are done settling for "fine." They come to us struggling with:
Persistent fatigue and low energy that sleep doesn't fix
Brain fog, poor concentration, and memory issues
Hormonal imbalances, irregular cycles, or perimenopause symptoms
Autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's, rheumatoid arthritis, or lupus
Digestive issues including bloating, constipation, or IBS
Anxiety, depression, or mood instability
Weight changes that don't respond to diet and exercise
If you've been told your labs are normal but you know something isn't right — this is the kind of care you've been looking for.
What to Expect as a Member
We don't do rushed 15-minute appointments. Our membership model is built around a true partnership between you and your care team.
When you join Balanced Living Functional Medicine, you can expect:
A comprehensive intake process that looks at your full health history
Advanced functional lab testing that goes beyond standard panels
A personalized care plan built around your specific root causes — not a generic protocol
Ongoing support, follow-up, and adjustments as your health evolves
A team that is genuinely invested in your progress
This is not a quick fix. It's a process — and for most of our members, it's the most supported they've ever felt in their healthcare journey.
About Dr. Emily
Dr. Emily Roedersheimer is a board-certified physician and Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) based in Ohio. She came to functional medicine through her own experience with rheumatoid arthritis — and the realization that there was a better way to heal than simply managing symptoms for a lifetime.
She built Balanced Living Functional Medicine to offer women the kind of care she wished she'd had — thorough, personal, and genuinely hopeful.
