More About Me

I'm Dr. Emily Roedersheimer (or "Dr. Emily" as everyone calls me), and I'm a functional medicine physician who knows firsthand what it's like to be failed by the conventional medical system.

I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 10 and spent years on medications and injections with little relief. After more than a decade as a board-certified family physician in Columbus, I discovered an article by Dr. Mark Hyman that changed everything. It explained that inflammation can be reduced by changing your lifestyle! I applied this and other principles of functional medicine to my own life and achieved what I'd been told was impossible: complete remission, off all medications.

That transformation became my mission. I earned my certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFMCP) and founded Balanced Living Functional Medicine, pioneering a "lifestyle-first" approach that flips the traditional model upside down.

Instead of starting with expensive tests and supplement protocols, I help high-performing women build the foundation of health first: sleep, stress management, nutrition, and movement. The results speak for themselves: an average 63% symptom reduction in 90 days.

But my true breakthrough came from understanding what most doctors miss: chronic symptoms aren't random, and they're not "all in your head." They're signals of invisible stress patterns that have become so normalized that women can't even see them anymore.

Through my "Push Pause to Heal" method, I teach driven, overwhelmed women how strategic micro-breaks can interrupt the cycle of inflammation, hormonal chaos, and burnout—creating space for their bodies' innate healing capacity to take over.

When I'm not transforming lives, you can find me making my famous guacamole, watching movies with my boys, or diving into the latest functional medicine research..
