Your body doesn’t need more effort. It needs a different approach

You’ve already learned, tried, and changed a lot.

We help you figure out what deserves your attention now.

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

You’re already doing a lot for your health.

You pay attention to what you eat. You try to move your body. You read, research, make appointments, and make thoughtful choices because feeling better matters to you.

And you may still be tired, foggy, uncomfortable in your body, or simply not feeling like yourself.

At Balanced Living, we help you step back from all of that information and make sense of what’s actually happening in your life and your body. Together, we notice what keeps showing up, sort through what may matter most, and get clearer about where your effort is worth putting next.

If this sounds familiar...

  • You’re doing many of the “right” things, but something still feels off.

  • You’re overwhelmed by conflicting advice and endless options.

  • Your labs are “normal,” but you don’t feel normal.

  • You’re showing up for life, but not fully living it.

  • You’ve started to wonder, “Is this just how it is now?”

Here’s what we know.

You probably don’t need to change everything at once.

Often, the more useful place to begin is figuring out which few things deserve your attention first.

Sometimes a lab result gives us an important clue. Other times, we learn just as much by looking at what keeps happening in your everyday life.

The goal is to bring those pieces together so your next step feels clearer and more manageable.

And depending on where you are right now, that starting point may look different.

The goal isn’t to do more. It’s to know what deserves your attention.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

You’ve already put real effort into your health.

You’ve changed how you eat, tried supplements, made appointments, read the books, listened to the podcasts, and paid attention to what seems to make you feel better or worse.

So when you still don’t feel like yourself, it makes sense to wonder whether there’s something else you haven’t found yet.

But adding more can make it harder to tell what actually matters. A new test, supplement, or recommendation may be useful, but it can also become one more piece of information you’re trying to sort through.

This is where another perspective can help.

We look at what’s already happening in your life and your body, what keeps repeating, what has helped, and what hasn’t. From there, we can get more thoughtful about what deserves attention next.

That might mean making a change in everyday life. Testing or medical care may add an important clue. The goal isn’t to use every tool available. It’s to use the ones that make sense for you.

You can know a great deal about health, care deeply about feeling better, and still benefit from another set of eyes.

MEET DR. EMILY

I know what it’s like to want a different answer.

I spent 15 years practicing family medicine.

I also spent years living with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, taking medications, and believing that managing a chronic condition was simply what my future looked like.

Functional medicine changed the way I understood my own health. It helped me see how much influence our everyday choices can have, and eventually I was able to come off the medications I had relied on for years.

That experience changed the way I wanted to practice medicine too.

Leaving a safe, established career to build Balanced Living wasn’t the obvious choice. But I knew I wanted more time to listen, look for patterns, and help people understand what might be getting in the way of feeling better.

Today, that’s still what guides the way we care for people. We don’t assume there is one right path for everyone. We pay attention to the person in front of us, use testing and other tools when they add something useful, and help you focus on what is most likely to make a meaningful difference.

WHAT OUR MEMBERS SAY

What it feels like to have another set of eyes.

Sometimes the difference is having someone slow down, listen closely, and help you make sense of what matters most.

““Dr. Emily is amazing! She spent time with me to fully understand my situation, both mind and body. I have never worked with a doctor who even came close to this level of communication and treatment. I feel so much better, and she really changed the way I think about and can impact my health.”

— Toni, Summer 2025

“The personal touch and support I have received with Dr. Emily and the group is unmatched. This arena is complex and can be hard to navigate. Having a team that follows up in detail is especially important to me. I feel my health goals are in reach.”

— Steven, Spring 2025

“Dr. Emily and my health coach were the exact partners I was looking for on my health journey. I have always tried to eat healthy, exercise, and take care of myself, but when what I relied on was no longer working for me and traditional doctors told me my labs were just fine, I needed other health professionals to help me.”

— Tamar, Summer 2023
