The Importance of Detoxing

Did you know…

  • That the average American Adult carries over 700 chemicals in their body?

  • That there are an average of 200 chemicals and pollutants in the umbilical cord blood at the time of a baby’s birth?

  • That there are more than 80,000 chemicals registered for use today, few of which have been tested for safety?

  • And that there are about 2,000 more chemicals introduced EACH year?

The question is no longer if your body has toxins, but how many.. You are exposed to toxins, pesticides, and chemicals no matter how much you try to limit or avoid them in your everyday life.

And on top of that, you also add to that toxic load with negative people, social isolation, hyper vigilance regarding a certain virus, obsessively scrolling social media, listening to the news, and all the general negativity that surrounded us in the past 2 years or so.

So, how do you know if you are being affected by toxins? Here are some common symptoms:

  • Muscle aches

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Brain fog

  • General fatigue

  • Food allergies/chemical sensitivities

  • Irritability

  • Lethargy and weakness

  • Abdominal discomfort

So what exactly are toxins? Examples of everyday toxins include: lead in your tap water (from old pipes in your house or neighborhood), mercury from fish, pesticides and herbicides that travel into your body from the food you eat, exposure to chemicals in cleaning products, pollution in the air you breathe, plastics in your food, parabens and other chemicals in personal care products, and on and on. Not to mention the people in your life who leave you feeling drained, the collective addiction to social media, and the ever present bad news on TV.

With all these exposures, the toxins can pile up in your body, increasing your total toxic load. When this happens, it damages how your body functions and eventually causes disease.

It’s become more and more clear - toxins, both physical and emotional, damage your cells, tissues and immune system, and are implicated in cancer, neurological conditions, migraines, immune deficiencies, skin disorders and in all autoimmune diseases, to name just a few.

However, it can be hard to get through a detox by yourself. Changing aspects of your diet and lifestyle is much easier when you have daily guidance. Here are some of the benefits of detoxing:

  • More energy

  • Less brain fog

  • Less GI symptoms

  • Better mood and sleep

  • Potential weight loss

  • And much more…
